A bit of background
I studied at the University of Cambridge (BA, MPhil, PhD), where I’ve taught English literature since 2004 and undertaken various research projects. As I came to the end of another temporary contract I decided to leave Cambridge in 2021, and to work for myself.
I continue to publish extensively in my field – eighteenth-century literature and visual culture, with a special interest in Laurence Sterne (1713-1768) – and I still take an active part in the academic communities in which I’ve worked for many years.
A lot of academic scholarly activity (such as publications and reviewing) isn’t remunerated, and it can be hard to make things work without a salaried post. Therefore, I also take on publishing and editorial work on a freelance basis, drawing on years of experience. I’d be very happy to hear from you if you have a job you’d like help with.
This site is intended as a portal for an active academic who works for a living in a different kind of way.
